Liver Detoxification Diet, Also a Great Toxin Cleanse
Naturally there are going to be some times that our body does not quite feel up to par. The reasons for this are pretty simple; sometimes we don’t take care of ourselves the way we should. We eat poorly, drink unhealthy beverages, lack exercise, etc. and this can all lead up to a backup in our system, that is chalked full of toxins. Toxins that have been introduced into our system from the environment as well can cause our bodies to behave and feel poorly.
There are quite a few things that people will do when they discover that the state of their bodies isn’t quite what they want it to be. Some people try going on a diet, some people will exercise. People will do anything they can to feel well again, but in truth, the answer lies in riding their system from toxic build up. Depending on your condition and ailments, a liver detoxification may be exactly what your body needs in order restore balance and make you feel fantastic again. A liver detoxification is more of a fasting diet, but it does the trick quite nicely, so below we will go through all the steps necessary to clean your liver and live a healthier life.
Before starting your detoxification diet, make sure you note any and all food that you have been eating and to see if any of them contain chemicals that might be harmful to your body so you can completely eliminate them from your diet. Remember that anything pre-packaged or non-organic could cause a problem. Sometimes pesticides used in food preservation could cause you major problems as well, so pay attention to what you’re eating and see what you can do to round out your diet!
If your liver has been compromised there is an easy way to tell, and the best way to do so is to have some blood tests run. Serious signs of liver problems might include vomiting, fatigue, loss of appetite, itching, dark urine, and many other things, so its best to consult and physician immediately. These symptoms don’t always indicate liver failure but it’s never a bad idea to check with your doctor first and maintain liver detoxification cleanses often. After all, it can improve your quality of life drastically and keep you happier!
The first thing that you will need to do is eliminate all caffeine from your diet. We all love caffeine of course, but we should be able to eliminate this from our system for just a few weeks while preparing for and starting the detox. Do this for one week, and at the end of the week, you will be ready to start your detoxification diet. Keep in mind that this may not be pleasant as our bodies may be so used to certain drugs, such as caffine, but it will be worth it in the end to make sure that your body is in working condition at the end of the day.
During the first few days, you should drink ten glasses of water and two tablespoons of lemon juice. After that, do not eat anything else. That may sound a little bit difficult if you are used to eating a lot of food, but this will help to give your liver a rest and purge the poisons from your system. You might feel a little uncomfortable, but this is normal; just think about how great you’ll feel when the whole thing is over! Press on and stick to your diet.
As the days progress you can upgrade to drinking vegetable broth, but make sure that you continue to drink a minimum of ten 12 oz glasses of water per day. Chances are you may become hungry by the end of the day so you may try a quick shot of lemon juice and water, but you need to press on and stick to the diet.
Finally, you can add fresh fruit and some raw vegetables into your diet after about day 4, and continue with the lemon juice, water, broth and raw fruit/vegetable for 3 more days. Once you have completed 7 days, you can slowly introduce whole grains and some dairy into your diet. You won’t be able to go back to eating standard food right away, you’ll have to ease yourself off the diet. This is all very inconvenient but it is definitely worth it to feel better and have a healthier body. As you begin to introduce the foods back into your system, keep a record of how you feel. Many people often discover certain foods cause them allergies, headaches, fatigue and more and it is much easier to track how your body reacts. If you can manage it, try to separate which foods you bring back. For example, try meats one day and that’s all. Next day introduce grains, etc. and continue with that until your diet is satisfactory for you.
Your liver is a very important part of your body, and as such it is critical that you keep it clean and healthy and get yourself on the road to living a happier and healthier life, because you deserve it!
